Do I Need A Personal Trainer
As a Small Group Personal Training Gym, you might think this is a biased question for us to answer…
But to be honest, not everyone needs a personal trainer, and here’s why!
Most people in the gym already know what to do, so a personal trainer might seem like a complete waste of time.
However, there are some people who need that extra level of guidance, support, and motivation, making a personal trainer perfect for them!
Here are the 5 reasons you might need a personal trainer:
Reason One: You have no clue what to do at the gym
What do you do when you turn 16?
You hire a driving instructor because they are specialists in teaching you how to drive.
The reason you hire them is because you have a much greater chance of passing your driving test sooner, which is your goal.
So why do people not want to see a personal trainer for help?
I understand that there are a lot of bad personal trainers out there, so you need to do your research.
However, if you find a good one (and we’re a little biased, but we think we are pretty good), they should be evidence-based, friendly, personable, and able to make you want to come to the gym and produce real tangible results that you can see.
If you're not progressing with your current trainer and it's been more than 12 weeks, to be honest, I’d be asking a few questions.
At the STRIVE Training Club, we often see complete newbies start their fitness journey with us and then after a few weeks they feel more comfortable in the gym than ever before.
Reason Two: You need accountability
In short, most people know what to do; there is so much information out there!
Actually doing it is the problem.
If you lack the motivation to get to the gym before or after work, a personal trainer could be that extra level of motivation you need to get down to the gym.
Our members honestly tell us if they knew we were not waiting for them at the gym, they wouldn't bother coming down haha.
Reason Three: You are bored of the gym
One of the biggest barriers to the gym is that it’s boring.
Most people who come to STRIVE say how bored they are with their current training regime.
The reason they say they stay at the STRIVE Training Club is because of how varied our training is and that they never get bored.
This doesn't mean our training isn't structured; it just means that we program in a way that keeps stuff fun and interesting while allowing you to get great results.
Reason Four: Results
Many people go to the gym and lift the same weights for the same number of reps, for the same number of sets.
Ever heard of “3x12”?
They then wonder why they're not progressing.
It’s pretty simple: your body will adapt to a stimulus applied to it.
If you’re applying the same stimulus, your body has no reason to adapt (i.e., get stronger, build more muscle tissue, improve its endurance, etc.).
Our personal trainers take all the guesswork out for you, progressively overloading your programming so you get results without even having to think about it, as we know you can’t be bothered writing your program after a busy day's work.
Final Note
If you’re happy with how you’ve been progressing at the gym, there is no need for you to get a personal trainer.
However, if you…
Don’t know what to do
Need greater accountability and motivation
Find exercise in the gym boring
And are just not seeing progress
A personal trainer could be what you’ve been looking for!
