How often should i train?
A common question we get at our gym is, "How often should I train?" The answer varies based on several factors, but even one workout per week offers benefits!
Assessing Your Fitness Level
For beginners, starting with 2-3 workouts per week is ideal. Overtraining can lead to burnout and injury, so it’s important to allow your body time to recover. If you’re experienced, you might aim for 4-6 sessions weekly. Remember to always listen to your body and adjust as needed.
Balancing Your Lifestyle
Juggling work, family, and social commitments can make it tough to stick to a strict training schedule. If you aim for three workouts a week but occasionally miss a session, don’t stress. Consistency over time is key. Our gym offers Small Group Personal Training sessions throughout the day and a flexible book system to fit your busy schedule.
Defining Your Goals
Your training frequency should align with your goals. For general health and strength, 2-4 sessions a week are sufficient. Remember, your overall health and wellness also depends on factors such as sleep, nutrition, and stress to name a few.
Understanding Overtraining
Overtraining is possible and can manifest as fatigue, frequent illness, and sleep disturbances. Rest days are crucial. At our gym, our coaches individualise your Small Group Personal Training sessions based on how you feel on the day to prevent overtraining.
Making the Most of Rest Days
Recovery is essential.
Here are some of our top tips for those much needed rest days:
Stay hydrated.
Consume protein-rich foods to aid muscle repair.
Prioritise sleep.
Engage in light activities like walking.
